What this site is

Tackle Anatomy is an independent educational reference to how fishing rods and reels are built and how they work. It does not sell equipment, rank products or recommend an outfit, and it is not affiliated with any rod or reel maker or retailer.

Brand markings that appear in credited photographs belong to their owners. They do not mean the owner endorses this site or that this site endorses the product.

Accuracy and limits

The drawings are original schematics of common designs, not measured product drawings or service manuals. Explanations link to their sources, but designs vary between models and sources change. For repair or adjustment, follow the manual for your own rod or reel.

The site does not give legal, licensing, boating or safety advice. The information is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, and Tackle Anatomy is not liable for any loss arising from its use.

Reusing content

  • The diagrams, worksheets and their image files are licensed under CC BY 4.0. Use the credit line on the credits and licence page.
  • Each photograph keeps its own creator and licence, listed on the credits page.
  • The written text is © Tackle Anatomy. Short quotations with a link back are welcome. Do not republish whole pages or present the material as your own.
  • Do not scrape the site at a rate that burdens the host.
